It's the first week of the new year and I'm doing my best to stay on track with one of my goals. I don't make new year's resolutions because A) that means I have to commit to something that isn't already a habit and B) my life is like a roller coaster with small children that it's impossible to keep a promise to myself.
So, instead of announcing a huge change, I'm going to make personal goals that are achievable. I plan to run a race, read an extra book a month and submit at least three novels to my agent.
One of my writing goals this year, is to write something fresh. Something new. Something fun. I'm just about done writing the first draft. It's a little different from my hockey stories, so I'm thinking about changing my author name. I'll see how it goes when the novel is completed.
I don't know what's in store this year and I have no control of what books I write that are marketable to a publisher, but what I do know is, I'm going to make this year a successful one--at least I'm going to try and that's the best goal I can keep.
