It's funny, but lately I've had moms commenting to me about where I find the time to write. Well, I'm just like any other working mom, except my work load isn't an eight hour shift, I have to write in spurts. It's how I get the job done. Today for instance, I woke up at five this morning because writing and working out are the two necessities of my day, that is if the day allows it. First things first, I have a cup of coffee. I can not function without caffeine. Next, pack lunches, have a bite to eat and sit down and write. By six my son is waking up. Earlier than usual, so I feed him. As I am spooning barley cereal into his mouth, I am doing a set of triceps kick-backs. (Today is my weight training day) My husband comes into the kitchen laughing at me. I'm sure I look ridiculous, but how else am I going to get stuff done?
After my son eats breakfast, he's playing on a mat while I run the treadmill. I had to get off five times during a 35-minute session to wipe a nose, throw a piece a toast in the oven for my kindergartener and redirect my baby so he's playing safely. Once we're all showered and dressed, it's off to school, running, because the bell just rang and I hate being late for anything. We get home and I take my preschooler to ballet. She loves her slippers so much she doesn't want to take them off, but when she does, the bow comes off, and she thinks they are no good, until I get out my sewing kit and start stitching the bow back on while I'm making soup and getting my baby's lunch prepared. I could go on, but my day is just like another other mom. There is always lots to do with so little time.
And now as I look at the clock, I have an hour and a half before I run to pick up my daughter from school. With my preschooler playing and baby napping, this is my time to write with a cup of coffee of course!
Cheers to a good weekend!
