I think romance has changed slightly over the years, in that it's not a stereotypical story written for females. I am flattered when I receive a compliment from a male, telling me they've read my book and they liked it! Perhaps it's because my books have a hockey theme, but regardless, I am always taken back. I appreciative all my readers!
I have my reasons as to why I write romance. Here they are:
1. I write what I want to read. I love reading about two people coming together unexpectedly. There is something magical about two lives coming together and discovering who they are and what they want.
2. Writing is what I do and I'm on a journey when I've invented two people who are discovering what they need. It's a challenge to get those characters to fall in love and when they do, it's satisfying.
3. I want to entertain readers and create a world that makes them happy when they finished a book.
4. Lastly, when you read a happily-ever-after or happily-for-now story, it fills you with positive vibes. I still remember how Cinderella made me feel when I was seven-years old. Romance is a genre that you can expect a feel-good ending from.
I hope every romance you read fills you with that Valentine feeling.
Happy Valentine's Day!
